To embark on your journey with the Purveyor, you must first acquire Murmuring Obols, the currency of choice.

Obtaining Murmuring Obols

Murmuring Obols is a unique currency required to gamble at the Purveyor of Curiosities. This mystical currency can be found throughout Sanctuary by completing specific events; upon successful completion, you will be rewarded with Murmuring Obols.

Here are the various ways you can obtain them:

• Overworld Events: Participate in events scattered throughout the Overworld. These events can include unique encounters, challenges, and mini-boss fights.

• Legion Events: Engage in Legion events, which are large-scale invasions in specific areas of the game world.

• Cursed Shrine Events: Discover and activate Cursed Shrines during your adventures. These events are typically challenging and may require teamwork to overcome.

• Side-Quest Rewards: Certain side-quests in Diablo IV offer Murmuring Obols as part of their completion rewards.

Note: The number of Murmuring Obols you can carry at any given time is limited. Once the cap is hit, roll the dice at the Purveyor of Curiosities to ensure you can pick up additional obols without leaving them to waste on the ground.

Updating the Capacity for Murmuring Obols

When you first begin in Diablo IV, you have a baseline of 500 Obols. You can check your current capacity by clicking Materials & Stats or the Obol count at the bottom of your inventory view.

However, you can increase this capacity through the following methods:

• Altars of Lilith: Seek out Altars of Lilith, which are scattered throughout the game world. Interacting with these altars will grant you a permanent increase in your Murmuring Obols capacity. 20 of the 160 Altars provide +5 Murmuring Obols that are account bound, equating to 100 additional Obols.

• Renown Rewards: Pursuing glory and triumph over the forces of darkness, you'll earn Renown, a testament to your achievements. As you progress through Diablo IV and gain renown, you will unlock various rewards, including upgrades to your Murmuring Obol capacity. Once you achieve the fourth level of renown within the five regions, you are granted a permanent capacity upgrade of +80 Murmuring Obols. This translates to 400 additional Obols; 5 regions (x) +80 Obols.

In total, you can increase your total Murmuring Obol capacity to 1,000!

Using Murmuring Obols at the Purveyor

Once you've accumulated a sufficient number of Murmuring Obols and have updated your capacity as much as possible, it's time to visit the Purveyor of Curiosities to try your luck.

Locating the Purveyor

Locating one of the eight Purveyors of Curiosities is straightforward. You can Seek out the Purveyor in different towns and settlements throughout Diablo IV.

What can you buy?

The Purveyor will present you with a random assortment of items, each with its rarity and potential attributes. From common, magic, rare, legendary, and the Whispering Key unlocking silent chests.

The Whispering Key is used to open Silent Chests throughout the open world. However, I have never had much luck with consistent Rare or Legendary RnG dropping from these, so I would not recommend wasting your time.

As always with gambling, it is an exhilarating game of chance that could reward you with powerful equipment! You cannot gamble UNIQUES!

Sacred & Ancestral Items

Once you acquire level 53 in World Tier III, you can gamble for Sacred items from the Purveyor. The same goes for level 73 achieved in World Tier IV, which enables the chance for Ancestral items.

The item power of gambled items scales with your character level, and it is randomized what you purchase; you are not guaranteed to flip a Sacred or Ancestral; it is a game of chance.

As of patch 1.1, there was an update regarding rlvl (level requirement) for both Sacred & Ancestral items. Sacred items now cap at level 60, with Ancestral Items at level 80.

The Cost of Obols
